The Benefits of One-on-One Fitness
Nothing quite compares to working with a certified personal trainer. Our team at Spectrum Athletic Clubs can help anyone no matter what his or her health goals are. Personal trainers are highly certified to provide our members with focused attention and catered workouts. Ready to take your fitness to the next level? Check out what our team can do for you.
Develop Your Health Goals
The most important step of getting healthy is outlining goals that are achievable. When you first meet with a personal trainer, he or she will have an in-depth conversation with you to determine what you would like to accomplish. This could include:
- Losing weight
- Increasing lean muscle mass
- Gaining muscle definition
- Building stamina and endurance
Setting quantifiable goals helps an individual to mark and celebrate success. Therefore, the trainer may take measurements including your weight and body mass index and then assigning milestones for you to reach, such as losing a certain number of pounds lost or dropping a percentage of body fat.
Individualized, Structured Workouts
Instead of walking into a gym and randomly using machines or equipment, you will have a very specific workout to do every time you meet with your trainer. He or she will take the goals you outlined and use them to determine which training methods will best help you hit those numbers. This could include doing cardio activities, lifting weights or blending techniques.
Help With Nutrition
Many of our certified personal trainers at Spectrum can give you support in the way of nutrition. What you put in your mouth is just as important as the exercises you do. In fact, many of our trainers believe that fitness begins with food.
During your initial conversation, your trainer may instruct you to keep a food journal that outlines everything you eat in a day. This will give him or her an idea of where you stand nutritionally. From there, the trainer can put together a plan for your meals and snacks to complement the work that you are already doing in the gym. Through combining your efforts at home with your exercise, you are much more likely to achieve your goals.
Most people work out with the professional only once or twice a week, so piggybacking on those sessions with your own workouts is essential. An added benefit to working with a personal trainer is that he or she will teach you the right way to lift weights, do a body squat or use a kettlebell. Having the correct form is not only imperative to reaping the benefits of an exercise, but it also prevents injury. You can take the techniques you learn and then apply them to exercise when you are not meeting with your trainer.
